What’s next for Kaitlyn Hunt, the teen charged with a felony for a same-sex relationship with a classmate.
If this were a boy and girl, it would be no big deal.
That’s so accurate. If she were male, she’d be thrown in jail and it would be totally cool with society.
This does call into question, though, the legitimacy of age limits restricting relationships. What’s the difference between this girl at 17 years and 364 days and this girl at 18? Is there some magical emotional metamorphosis, like a caterpillar emerging from a cocoon of childhood into an adult butterfly in a matter of one day? I think not. This is an obvious ploy to ruin a girls life because the parents of her girlfriend are homophobic and don’t know how to fucking parent. If you don’t want your daughter to date someone, TELL HER SHE CANT! BE A FUCKING PARENT! They may have tried to accomplish this, but the older girls parents claim the younger girls parents never came to them. If this is true, then what the hell?! Don’t ruin some poor girls life because your kid entered into a consensual relationship without your permission.
As a society, I think we need to grow past the emphasis on age and simply understand that some people are more mature than others. Some people can handle a relationship at 16 or 17. Others can’t. Some people are dumber at 18 than anyone else is at the age of 10. It’s not up to the state to make sure kids don’t do things that are beyond their level of maturity. This isn’t some 3 year old being molested. This is a high school age kid with a girlfriend.

Tumblr Staff: News!
Everyone, I’m elated to tell you that Tumblr will be joining Yahoo.
Before touching on how awesome this is, let me try to allay any concerns: We’re not turning purple. Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to…
Yahoo agrees, Tumblr will be run separately.
So apparently, Yahoo doesn’t want to “screw it up.” Good call. We’re safe, for now.
How long until Yahoo totally wrecks Tumblr?
I give it 9 to 12 months to announce and/or lay the groundwork for awful changes, and 12 to 18 months to implement them.
